Privacy Policy

Blur The Video ("we", "us") is a browser-based tool for blurring, pixelating, or blacking out parts of a video. This policy explains what we do — and importantly, don't do — with your data.
1. Your videos never leave your device
The most important point: your video is never uploaded to us or anyone else. All editing, blurring, and exporting happens locally in your browser using the device's own processing. We do not receive, see, store, or transmit your footage. Because of this, there is no video content for us to retain, share, or lose.
2. Information we collect
We collect as little as possible. Specifically:
- Video content: none. It is processed entirely on your device.
- Payment information: when you buy a watermark-free export, payment is handled by our payment processor, Paddle, which acts as merchant of record. We do not see or store your card details. We receive limited information such as your email address, a transaction identifier, and country, to deliver and support your purchase.
- Purchase/entitlement records: to unlock a clean export we store a non-identifying fingerprint of the purchased video (a one-way hash derived from file metadata — not the video itself) together with the transaction id, and, for lifetime purchases, your email address so the purchase can be restored.
- Local browser storage: if you buy lifetime access, a flag is stored in your browser's local storage so the app remembers it on that device.
- Basic technical data: standard server logs (e.g. IP address, browser type) generated by our hosting provider when you load the site.
3. How we use information
- To provide the editor and let you export your video.
- To process payments and deliver/restore watermark-free exports.
- To prevent fraud and abuse of the payment system.
- To maintain and improve the service.
4. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share limited data only with service providers that make the product work:
- Paddle — payment processing and tax/compliance.
- Vercel — website hosting.
- Upstash — the database that stores purchase/entitlement records.
We may also disclose information if required by law.
5. Data retention
Since videos are never uploaded, there is nothing to retain. Purchase and entitlement records are kept for as long as needed to honor your purchase and meet legal/accounting obligations.
6. Cookies and local storage
The app itself uses your browser's local storage to remember a lifetime unlock. During checkout, Paddle may set cookies necessary for payment. We do not use advertising cookies.
7. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Because your footage is processed locally and never transmitted, the most sensitive data — your video — is never exposed to a network in the first place.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. under GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the limited personal data we hold (such as your purchase email and entitlement record). To make a request, contact us at the address below.
9. International transfers
Our service providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where required, appropriate safeguards are applied.
10. Children's privacy
The service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
